On beautiful Saturday, the beats were rockin and howling at the annual WOOFSTOCK block party. Woofstock is an ALL AGES festival to benefit NJ animals in need. Woofstock was an all-day block party and benefit for the Newark NJ Animal Shelter that features 13 local New Jersey Bands, 5 Djs, Food, Vendors and a chance to meet your next canine companion. The free, outdoor portion runs from 12-10 pm. The inside portion begins at 8pm inside Hell’s Kitchen Lounge (HKL) in Newark, NJ, where Scarlit Artesque and other band performed in the indoor concert which began at 10pm.
Woofstock is an important event for the community and bringing music fans and animals lovers together for a day of music. The event was sponsored and produced by Hell Kitchen, 150 Lafayette St, and this free event was their 7th year producing the event has become an expected event in the Ironbound. The best part is you can adopt a loving animal or donate to save a life! The New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NJSPCA) will be in attendance along with local rescue organizations from 12-4 PM. The event has grown over the years with larger participation of vendors selling mostly dog related items, and the occasional spike leather jacket.
The bands and music performances were vast from classic rock, heavy metal to punk. The concerts was hosted by Dave Menance, which hosted a Thursday open mic at the HKL.

Jared Crawford aka Choclattjared is a percussion prodigy and music composer who began performing at the formative age of three. He first gained recognition as one of the world-renowned bucket drummers of the subway stations and streets of New York City.
From there, Choclatt co-starred and created all of the on stage percussion segments in the 4 Tony Award winning musical “Bring in Da Noise Bring in Da Funk” and he is also the creator of the critically acclaimed musical “Keep Bangin” in the players theater.
Choclatt’s musical talents have also been resourced by 5 time grammy award winning artist Lauryn Hill for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album and tour, Carlos Santana, Savion Glover, Usher, Rihanna,
Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Beyonce , Melony Fiona, Kelis, Amarie and Gregory Hines.
Choclatt has also been featured in television commercials for Metro PCS, Capital One Bank, CBS sports network, Cingular Wireless, Burger King and Panasonic. What make Jared so special is that he continues to develop as a artist. His vocal phasing along with his drumming truly illustrates his talent. He closed his set with his current popular selection “Cant Stop Smokin”, the crowd went wild.
Was the surprise of the event. The band played classic rock. What made them so unique these guys are still in high school, but their tonality and pace was classic rock. But they were not just copying the classic they might have heard on recording, they performed many original section. They are a great young band out of Union , New Jersey, had other musician applauding.
