Over the past four days, Newark has been buzzing. The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation was in town again at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center for the 2012 Dodge Poetry Festival which turned downtown Newark into a poetry village. For four days (10/11 – 10/14) the festival showcased day-long programs featuring poets and writers from all over the world. Festival poets included the likes of Taalam Acey, Amiri Baraka, Ras Baraka, Eavan Boland, Nikki Finney, Lamar Hill, Philip Levine, Taylor Mali, Rachel McKibbens, Gregory Orr, Baraka Sele, Narubi Selah, Natasha Trethewey, C.K. Williams, and more.

This week saw an outpouring of remarkable writing talent and creativity here at GlocallyNewark. We posted a Haiku Contest in step with the Dodge Poetry Fest happening at the New Jersery Performing Arts Center and we received an impressive amount of submissions from poets and writers with such an overwhelming range of concepts. The grand prize for the contest was slated as x2 tickets to today's DPF2012 program at NJPAC and the winner has been selected!

Harlem brings us a celebration of literature, art, fashion, film, music and theater. The Harlem Book Fair Newark will be at the Paul Robeson Campus Center at Rutgers University - Newark this Friday and Saturday. It will feature more than 100 exhibitors, story- telling, screenings and performances.
