Newark Artist Shows Some Skin In Brooklyn

Two weeks ago, Seeing Double opened at Mighty Tanaka in Brooklyn. The joint show featuring work by photographer, Ellen Stagg and vinyl artist, Hiroshi Kumagai blurs the line between viewer and voyeur aiming for the audience to form their own opinions about art vs. smut.

No stranger to Brick City, Hiroshi Kumagai has been part of the Newark art scene for a number of years, showing at local galleries like Gallery Aferro and Index Art Center. Since moving his studio to Brooklyn, his “erotic art” seems to be generating a steady a following. Last year Hiroshi had work at The Museum of Sex inĀ Universe of Desire, an exploration of sex in the digital age.
