If you are looking for a fun and crafty way to start the summer off, the Newark Museum has a number of amazing art classes and workshops to keep you busy. For those of you who are unfamiliar, the Newark Museum has an Adult Arts Workshop on the 2nd Floor near the Children’s Museum. For a very affordable price you can enjoy a class in the fiber arts, painting, and jewelry making to name a few.
I’ll be teaching a week long jewelry class starting June 25. Students will learn how to create a finished ring by carving a model out of wax.

Finishing Day: Saturday, July 7, 10 am–4 pm
Wax Carving: The Basics
This course covers the basics of wax carving, one of the more common forms of jewelry making. Wax carving techniques using hand tools and the flex shaft will be demonstrated. Students learn techniques for shaping and creating a finished wax ring model that will be cast at a professional facility. Learning to finish the ring after it has been cast will conclude the project. This course will be four days in a row with a fifth day, on a weekend, dedicated to finishing your casting. Beginner
