On Saturday I was walking through Halsey Street Village and was ecstatic to see that the new macaroni & cheese specialty restaurant, Elbow Room was near completion. I couldn’t help myself… I had to peek through the window. Lucky me, Executive Chef Luis was on the front stoop of the 41 Halsey Street location. If you follow me on foursquare you already know that I got a sneak peak and tour of the new eatery. Now don’t be confused or annoyed that this Newark location maintains the official brand moniker “Elbow Room Brooklyn,” because this space is uniquely Jersey!
The space is small, but well situated. It has a modern sitting area right off the entryway, which I imagine will serve as the waiting area. With flavors like Lobster Macaroni Salad, Brats & Beer, and “Old School” macaroni on the menu, this place is sure to be packed! The seating is strategic and includes tables suited for 2-4 people and a community table for large parties.
This is one of a few Elbow Rooms popping up in different locations in our area. Luis said there are talks of opening one in Jersey City to join the Newark & Barclay Center locales.
According to the official facebook page, the Brick City location is scheduled to open TOMORROW, October 25th at 11am. Stay tuned for updates!

Not in at least the last several years. It’s been boarded up as long as I can remember.
