Have you thought about getting involved with the Garden State Rollergirls?

“Do Have you thought about getting involved with the Garden State Rollergirls, but aren’t sure if you have what it takes? Here’s your chance to find out!”

When I first read this… My only thought was sitting in a tub of ice, hoping that my bruises would go down before I had to return to work the next morning in a business suit. I’ve seen these girls out. They are women that wear serious gear. Ripped fishnets, short shorts, and are tattooed from head to heal. They drink beer and love burgers.

I snagged this pic off of the Facebook Garden Roller Girls Club.

Yes! I was a Hell’s Kitchen’s waitress at one point and I definitely have served your pack. 15 burgers med – well, 7 orders of nachos and 25 pints of beer. NOW! Haha. No joke, you all are a lot of fun.

Moral of the story is this group of girls is a TEAM and they kick ass like a team. Want to be apart of them…
Here is your chance!

Open Practices for 2010 Tryouts will be held on Sundays from 11am – 1pm and Wednesdays from 9pm – 11pm starting Sunday, November 1.

Learn the skills you’ll need to make the cut – open practices are for prospective rollergirls to get an idea what the SPORT of derby is really all about and the skills needed to pass tryouts in February of 2010.

If you are intersted in attending an open practice, you MUST email Lady Vengeance at LadyVengeance24@gmail.com in ADVANCE to let us know you’re coming so we can plan accordingly. $5 donation to the league is appreciated at each practice.

All bouts are held at Branch Brook Park Rollerskating Center, 7th and Clifton Ave., Newark, NJ. Conveniently located less than one minute off Rt. 280.

Don’t let the picture fool you – we are (mostly) nice girls! We come from all walks of life – white-collar, blue-collar, artists, mothers. What we do share is a love of the sport, a tenacious attitude, and a little bit of grit.

And while many girls choose to wear fishnets, they’re certainly not mandatory! Personally, I prefer leggings, and I don’t have any tattoos either.
