The Signs – They Are A Changing (And It’s About Time!)

One of the many benefits of living where I live involves my daily commute to Newark Penn Station through the Gateway.

Stairs to Heaven?

Stairs to Heaven?

Yes, I am one of those bridge and tunnel folks who are at the mercy of NJ transit and their “on time” schedule, but more about that some other time. Walking through the Gateway each morning one tends to see the same folks, smell the same coffee brewing and see the same damn billboards. At first it was this:

Does that mean me too?

Does YOU mean me too?

Which was happily replaced, rather consistently I may add, until it ended up as this:

Forever Begins or forever the same billboard?

Forever Begins or forever the same billboard?

Now, nothing against the United Way or this Common-esq look-a-like but it was getting to the point where seeing the same ad for the past 3 months made me not want to ever give, even a dirty nickel, to the United Way. I am happy to say that a new billboard has recently appeared, announcing Go Newark’s Restaurant week – from July 6th – 16th.

Go Newark? I think I might.

Go Newark? I think I might.

Ah restaurant week – now that is something to get excited about.  For now, as I walk through the Gateway, instead of wondering when the signs will change, I am just left wondering – “What’s behind that drywall and will these guys be ready in time for restaurant week?”

I'll take whats behind the door number 3 please...

The Gateway? It’s a bunch of buildings connected to Newark Penn Station. By the way, the link “something to get excited about” made me laugh for at least 5 minutes…and I had to show my coworker!
