Live with Marcel Green

Marcel is the CEO of Cobble Records which is right around the corner on Washington Street. “What we are doing right now is multi-media. We are a film school and recording studio.” Let’s cut to the chase, Marcel. “What we do is teach underprivileged kids how to record, learn the recording and film business. We are working on a gang prevention film.” How? Filming and recording gets kids off the streets but Cobble Records also has students working on a film called “Surviving the Streets.” Time for Marcel’s partner Jeff Billingsley to jump in: “We are teaching kids about the careers that exist BEHIND the film and recording industries. We are working with Rutgers and a new partner Berkely College of Music in Boston. With them, we’re starting a scholarship program — outside of perfromance, including music theory. We grew up in Newark. We brought the industry here. But our passion is to build an institution for the  education of young people on the business. It’s not just singing. You’ve got to know the buisness.”
