I very recently bought a fantastic CBR but had a small misfortune! I tried to slow down with the brake slowly and consistently with the front brakes but the wheel basically quickly fell out under me! I have often been on the back of a bike with a dood before who has brought the rear wheel into the air by braking very hard with the forward brake! How did he do it different? Im confused!!

I'm just waiting for EasyPark. Let Big Brother watch my car while I get my eat on. Do you know what it feels like to hunt for a spot for 20 min. Then find out "I got no change." Grrrrrrrrr! Now, if your parallel game is not up to par, you may get charged twice. Might take a little time to get the kinks out. :0

Can someone please ticket the double-parkers? Double parking is a much deeper moral insult than exceeding one's time at a meter.

Parkington Halsey: I celebrated too! But they shouldn't stop there...Love the name :-)

Kyle: Oh no! You used the Green argument (and it's a good one)...I personally use public transit 2-3 times a week (train and bus), but for example when I go downtown for lunch I may not want to get the bus.

The turnover argument may be true part of the time but maybe we need lots that are lower priced (just for shoppers, diners, etc) to continue encouraging that group to spend in Newark. We may get more shopping options that way too.

Hey Nina! Awesome graphic!
Higher parking fines can be good for businesses in that it may help turnover in curb spots, getting new customer into the spaces and reducing the time spent cruising around for a spot. Increased meter prices are even more effective at this, though.
I have to admit, that I'm a fan of the increased fines - the more encouragement people have to take transit rather than drive, the clearer the streets will be for those who have no choice and the safer the streets will be for pedestrians and bikers.

I can only imagine what parking must be like for you. My very small community implemented parking fines, to a bit of a backlash, I'm afraid. Here we think we're entitled to unlimited next door parking...even when we can walk to the store and back in ten minutes.
