DreamPlay: Live from 07102!

100_3262

3 of DreamPlay's team.

I was about to get the answer to my question: Who did the uber-fabulous video for Glocally?

Igor and Yuri Alves from the Ironbound. When they think “Newark” - They think of home, culture, and change. They see a big difference – they went to Eastside and Lafayette Schools….After high school they all took different avenues.  It all seemed to work out – the varied expertise in finance, music and film became the realistic makings of the business DreamPlay.

The company developed over the years, from a dream that they had that was inspired by Yuri Alkves’ unique style of filmmaking.  Igor, his brother, supported the idea and eventually became a partner.

He is the secret weapon. -Yuri

There was a woman standing with the foursome wearing an insanely gorgeous white floor-length gown. I asked who she was since I’m that nosy. She is Anna DeSouza, a freelance PR professional who works with DreamPlay.  And there a re more connctions - Yuri met Peter (of Glocally Newark), who has also been assisting with PR and making some key introductions. Peter Morris has recently been involved with DreamPlay production in a creative and PR capacity.

He is the bridge.  He made it happen.

Yuri was working on a feature length film, and needed access to rooftops.  He bartered his filming services for access.

In this economy it’s the way to go.

In 5 years, Newarks nightlife will be sought after.  Newark will be a destination.  Newark is changing even down to this event.  We need more events like this.  It feels very New York.  But it’s a little hot in here!

The next thing is ventilation.  Igor would love to open a business in this space.  Without saying too much, he has a concept and a dream that will change the future of small businesses!

ACTUALLY….most of the video was done by the Zuvuya Collective, who also did all if the lighting for the event. Dreamplay provided a 2 – 3 minute reel of images that was then looped into Z Collective’s overall programming, but they DID NOT provide the video for the evening……much of what guests saw on the walls after 8pm was being mixed “live”

    cheers

I was referring to the reel we saw before the event. I thought it was a fun way of introducing 07102. But now that you mention it, I will also give my compliments to the live video mix, so unusual and alot of fun to see at the launch!
