Misavi Exterior
When you first step into Misavi I suggest you don’t mistake it for yet another knock off New York lounge serving over priced drinks and tiny food that only models eat. MiSaVi’s drinks aren’t over priced, a pitcher of sangria will cost you only $18. While you chat with one of the managers, enjoy a pitcher of some of the best Sangria I’ve ever had!
My experience at Misavi suggests they are trying to bring quality, tasty, well thought out food and ambiance to Newark. The decor is a mix of red and white walls, white seats at the bar, and red detailing on the windows. The lights are set to dim on their own accord depending on the music. The food was delicious. Invite -only Mondays feature free canapes such as fresh guacamole with home made tortillas, oysters, garlic points with ahi tuna and avocado, and last but not least, rye points with infused cream cheese and fresh basil. I hate rye bread with a passion, but these were good. I had to ask were these the rye points he mentioned because they were awesome. If all rye bread tasted like that, I wouldn’t hate it so much.

While sitting at a table enjoying the music someone wanted to show me a “hidden feature” of MiSaVi. They took me to a gorgeous bathroom (which is great, because many places slack on their bathroom decor) and showed me a 2-way mirror overlooking the dance floor. It was so cool. The only downside is the 2-way mirror is over the urinal and its kinda creepy that a man can be using the bathroom while watching everyone dance and no one will know. Great feature in a bad location.
Beginning April 2nd they will begin Thursday night soireeswith a VIP section for those who like to feel a little more exclusive (and will pay for it!).
Misavi opened December 17th, 2008. It’s the brainchild of Michael, Saul, and Victor (get it Mi-Sa-Vi). Victor is the chef and I suggest you meet him when you go, he is a barrell of laughs. And you can see him on April 7th on Food Network’s Chopped. Make sure to tune in.

I could drink sangria all day, and I’ve yet to have a bad pitcher anywhere in the Ironbound.
I think someone else mentioned the urinal mirror. Um, yeah, not creepy at all…

MiSaVi is a great addition to the Ironbound. Originally it was known as Pub Blues but the fellas did a great job. Food, drinks, and decor is top notch. If your there say hi to Adrian the waitress she is amazing and tip her well she’s a college girl!!!

Well, Im sorry to be the dis-agreer, but Ive been there twice, wasn’t impressed. My food was cold, was over charged, the service is not great, the bartender and waiters always look lost..
As far as the decor, looked 10 times better “as” pub blues, im not sure what they are going for, but they should learn something from the phrase, less is more. Horrible attempt at being a swanky Hollywood lounge.. and please, take that vase with a rose off of the corner window, it makes it look even worse.

i think this article underates MiSaVi. This place is phenomenal. The people and the atmosphere are so on point in every detail. It’s more than a great addition to the Ironbound. I believe it’s the start of a new wave of how to approach fine dining. Victor, Michael, and Saul have the right idea and it’s great to see what they’ve done. Check it out if you haven;t because you don’t know what you’re missing!

I had a wickedly good time at misavi! so happy those guys are taking Newark to the next level… w/ the food & decor… it’s like the new NYC. So many different venues… comedy nite, DJ’s, fundraisers… the one mirror out of the guys bathroom… too funny. Pretty people, cheap drinks & food… miami vibe… my gurlfriend & her gurls love it!
p.s. i read that angry guy’s response (probably a business owner in the area hating) Goin there tomorrow for A date for an auction, heard all 16 Ironmen cheerleaders gonna be there… that’s what i’m talking about.

MiSaVi is new, modern, fun, and different than what you would see from some other bar/lounges in the area. The food is tasty, eclectic and sometimes traditional with a twist which appeals to different types people. It’s reasonably priced and the atmoshere is comfortable and lively. I was there for dinner a few times and plan on going back for some drinks and a good time with friends.

For someone whose past the teenybopper clubs, MiSaVi is the place to be!!! The decor, food, service are amazing. Its by far the classiest place to be in the Ironbound and Victor, Michael and Saul will make you feel at home the minute you walk through their doors. It has become a place me and my friends go to enjoy a night out with some good food, good drinks and awesome company…..
